After the creation of Allocation Rule type, the next step is to create a Rule header for a specific business scenario, multiple rule headers can be created to group the detailed allocation rules.
Header contains options to ADD rule details, edit, copy & delete them respectively.
What makes Allocation rule detail definition easy is its ability to simplify the definition of allocation rule details, Rule details has 3 tabs comprising:
General: Captures the general information regards to the rule details
Input: captures the Input dataset Information on which the allocation rules are to be applied
Output: maintains the output dataset, driver & offset details to post the results of allocation
Description
Input field to capture the description of the rule details based on purpose
Input text Field
Allocation Method
Choose what type of allocation method to apply from
Dropdown
(Driver or Reclass)
Output Dataset
Allocation result is posted to this Dataset field member. The assigned member should be a base or leaf member
Dataset Member Selector
Dependency
Applies the dependency of allocation rules, when multiple rules are created in the same Allocation Rule type
Applicable To
Version filter on a context selection on executing the calculation
Version Member Selector
Active
Only active rules are applied. Checkbox to enable the calculation
Checkbox
Captures the Input details of the dataset on which allocation rules are to be applied.
Fields
list of fields are auto-populated based on the selected model when creating the action type allocation. The User can select the field members for all fields (except version & time. The user has options to either multi-select members of each field or select a specific member with the applied relationship. If there is no member selected, the calculation will consider all or the total of all members' values of the field.
Input Type
Dropdown option for the user to select By Factor or By Value
By Factor: Input data is multiplied by this factor. If this option is selected, an additional Input field for "Allocation Factor" is enabled to capture the factor to be multiplied for the Input value By default, value of 1 is enabled but the user has the option to increase/ decrease the value.
By Value: When this option is enabled, an additional Input field for "Amount to Allocate" is enabled to capture the exact value that needs to be allocated from the source dataset. The system takes the total Input data to calculate the factor. Once the factor is calculated, the system will multiply Input data by a factor.
Factor = Amount to Allocate / Total Input Amount
Output tab Consists of 3 sets of Information to be updated
2.3.1 Allocation Driver Fields
Displays the list of fields from the tagged model selected during Rule creation. each field has three options:
Filter - Select the specific field members by using this option. When selected, Member selector popup window is opened for user selection.
example - Can select the specific driver Information like based on headcount, revenue, units, etc.
Match - Checkbox to choose the fields that need to be matched while applying the allocation rule for input & driver Information.
The fields selected as matching checked will be matched with input data for allocation. All other fields will be ignored. To create a table to join with Input data, that table will have only fields that are selected as matched. for matching fields, it is enough to filter data for members based on the Input Filter.
example - during allocation, Input for 2022 should be allocated Matching for same time 2022 for driver Information as well
Allocate - Checkbox to select the field members that are required to be allocated To these fields are retained in the allocation table and input data is allocated based on the members returned here. A field cannot be set as both Allocate / Match enabled:
2.3.2 Output
Update list - Option to choose the list of fields to specify the output dataset combination. Once selected, specific members for each field can be selected to post the Output results
2.3.3 Offset
Same as Source - Input data which are being allocated (including factor) is multiplied by -1 and posted with Dataset changed to Output Dataset
Not Applicable - Only Output is posted. Offset is not generated.
User-Defined :
Dimensions with Update list selection:
This is a Single select output list for posting results.
Similar to Account mapping, which includes the "LOOKUP" option.
Input data is overwritten based on these members.
