Functional Area
A functional area refers to a specific business function or domain within an organization that is essential for achieving its overall goals and objectives. Each functional area has its own specific objectives, processes, and key performance indicators (KPIs) that are crucial for measuring performance and driving improvements. Functional areas can be defined and managed to facilitate financial modeling, planning, and analysis.
Purpose and Benefits
A Functional Area is a way to streamline and standardize the management of authorization and workflow across various models, by grouping them under a single object and ensuring the inclusion of Control Fields for access control.
Existing standard models and virtual models are grouped under this object, Inclusion of Control Fields within the Functional Area is mandatory. If a Control Field is not present in the Functional Area, the user will not be able to access the associated Model. This will be indicated by an error icon on the top of the Model screen within the Functional Area.
Functional Area is an object to control Authorization and Workflow. This is to remove dependency of Authorization and Workflow on a specific model and unlock full potential of reporting and defining process cross models.
Functional Area is now part of Models under Modelling Tab on Web Interface. All existing Standard models and Virtual models will be grouped as object below Functional Area.
Upon deploying new function, default functional area will be created for each Model automatically. The same model and virtual models will be assigned to the default Functional Area. You can perform the Assignment by Assign View in each Functional Area
